Hitting the Big 3-Oh

Low-key.. well.. not surprising, considering where I am.

She sent me a birthday message at 12am..

And I received a call from her just now..
she was strangely apologetic about not sending me anything.

I told her I know how busy she is..
and that it doesn't matter if she gives me anything or not,
as long as the heart to do so is there..

It's the thought that counts man! :)

But.. she seems strangely apologetic and subdued..

Visit to Murrayville

From 15 Dec, Friday to 17 Dec, Sunday, Ian Thomson, our Eynesbury lecturer, brought us on a weekend trip to Murrayville, Victoria. Where he spent about 25 years of his life.

Sadly, on the day of the trip, Shanghai Vicki was beaten by her Shanghainese boyfriend (TKD trained!), which really dampened her mood.

Japan Hana and especially myself were quite livid at the news, but there was nothing much we could do or could have done. We have both already advised Vicky to dump that jerk of a boyfriend a long time ago.

On to the trip..
I've prepared sandwiches and brought food just in case, as it's a 3-hour drive from Adelaide to Murrayville, and we left at around 5.30pm. ETA was about 9pm, as Victoria is half and hour later that South Australia.

We had a short pit stop to get petrol for Ian's car, and beer for Ian.

Onward to the Princes Highway and it was a nice long scenic drive. We stopped at a point along the Murray River I think, for a toilet break and to take in the scenery.

At it was summer, there was still daylight from 7-8pm, so we were able to see the vast expanse of the Australian landscape.

After dark, as we drove on, we saw this huge meteor streak across us less than a kilometre away. Within a few seconds, it exploded in a shower of green sparks about 200 metres above ground. Certainly one of the most spectacular natural phenomena I've seen in my life.

Along the way, Ian informed us that Murrayville was a small town, the people are rednecks, and have probably never seen Asians before in their lives. He didn't know what their reactions would be, but it sure would be funny to find out!

We finally arrived at Murrayville at around 9.30pm to 10pm..
and Ian drove straight to the local pub, and when he got out of the car,
the locals sitting outside were screaming, 'Thommo!!'

He walked into the pub, everyone was going, 'Thommo!!'

Reminds me of Cheers, where everybody knows your name.
